Biblical Stories of Resilience Moses of the Bible was a leader of God’s â€Å"chosen people†. He was called to lead a frustrated and discouraged people through a wilderness where only extreme necessities were provided through divine intervention. Even throughout the challenges that presented themselves, Moses relied on God and was victorious in leading the people. The Biblical character of David suffered fear in his life. He fought with a foreign giant, was threatened by a jealous king, and fought wars with opposing nations. He, too, prevailed over his battles through his strong faith in God. Jesus Christ was hated, beaten, threatened, and ultimately killed. Yet he is considered the epitome of resilience. He overcame physical death, was resurrected, and now reigns at the right hand of God in heaven. Trust in God’s faithfulness is a continuing theme throughout the Bible’s stories of resilience. Biblical Verses Supporting Resilience There are many specific verses in the Bible that accent the concept of resilience. Among them are Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 which states â€Å"to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven†¦a time to heal† (NKJV). Araby is a short story written by James Joyce. Who lived from 1882 to 1941. Quit Ireland at twenty and spend his life writing about Dublin, where he was born. The main character of this story is a young boy, who is portrayed by the first-person narrator, whose name and age is unknown. Probably his age would be about 11 to 14 years old. Also, the narrator lives with his aunt and uncle, and goes to school, which gives us an idea that he is unable to live by himself. This short story is basically about a young boy that going through his first infatuation. The story Araby has some kind of classical narrative. It has a feel in certain elements of an epic story. For the purposes of the essay, we pay special mention to online communities, in particular fanfiction. This idea of fan fiction is to provide a home of creators of one of the first user generated genres, fan stories written using popular movie and TV characters and storylines. Members can upload stories, embed promos and build communities around their favourite shows, books, movies, games etc. Fanfiction sites provide challenges asking fans to write their own conclusion to their favourite shows season finale. Members can shift from one community to another as their interests and needs change and they belong to more than one community at the same time.
